As an English major I’ve written more research papers than I can count. I have become accustomed to the format. Creating a learning screen has been a different experience and I enjoyed working with the internet to discuss books read in class, like Six Memos for the Next Millenium. I liked incorporating my writing in a different medium and being able to learn more about the computer. I liked that with the wordpress blog I could incorporate images into the text I created. Research papers are more about information that is straight to the point.
Research papers and blogging are similar in the fact that if you are precise you can fit all the necessary information about the subject into whichever format being used. I actually felt like I ended up writing down a lot more information in the blog than I would ever write in a single research paper. On the blog there are so many different sections to write down your thoughts. Rather than write them down in a paper and separate my thoughts through paragraph changes, the blog has different pages to click on to separate my thoughts. This makes it easier for the reader since they can just go to whichever section they want to read about. With a research paper you would have to read the whole thing and not find a specific piece of information you found interesting.
